Block Party Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Block Party Music ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with the Block Party mobile app (the "App"), a music‑recognition game available on the Apple App Store. We built Block Party to be fun and privacy‑respecting: we collect only what we need to run the game, and we do not track you across other apps or websites for advertising.

The short version. We do not show third‑party ads. We do not use the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) and we do not ask to track you. We use Firebase to sign you in and save your scores, Sentry to fix crashes, and Apple's own services (Apple Music previews, Game Center, and the App Store) to play song clips, run leaderboards, and process purchases. You can request deletion of your data at any time.

2. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information. Wherever possible, we keep data on your device or tied only to an anonymous account identifier.

Account and identifiers

Account identifier: When you sign in, Firebase Authentication creates a unique user ID for your account. If you choose to sign in with an email address or with Sign in with Apple, we receive that identifier so we can save your progress and restore it across devices. With Sign in with Apple you may choose to hide your email; we will only ever receive the relay address Apple provides.
Display name: If you set a player name for leaderboards, we store it so it can be shown to other players.

Gameplay and usage data

Gameplay content: Your scores, game results, energy/lives, song‑recognition events, streaks, and progress across the four game modes (casual, lover, audiophile, DJ). This is stored in our database (Firebase Firestore) so your progress is saved and so leaderboards work.
Product interaction: Anonymous, aggregate signals about how the game is played — such as which daily songs are served and how rounds are completed — used to operate, balance, and improve the game.

Diagnostics

Crash and performance data: If the App crashes or misbehaves, Sentry collects crash logs, error reports, and basic performance and device information (such as device model, operating‑system version, and app version) so we can diagnose and fix problems. We use this only to keep the App stable.

Information collected automatically

IP address: When your device connects to our service providers (Firebase and Sentry), your IP address is processed as a normal part of making a network connection. We and our providers use it only for security, fraud prevention, and diagnostics — for example, to protect against abuse and to understand the general region a crash came from. We do not use your IP address to build an advertising profile or to track you across other apps or websites.

Purchases

Purchase records: If you buy anything in the App, the purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store using your Apple Account. We never receive or store your credit card or payment details. We may record that a purchase or "founder" entitlement is active on your account so we can unlock the corresponding features.

What we do not collect. We do not collect your precise or coarse location, your contacts, your photos, your microphone audio, your browsing history outside the App, health or financial data, or any advertising identifier (IDFA). Block Party does not include third‑party advertising and does not present an App Tracking Transparency prompt because we do not track you.

3. How song previews work

Block Party plays short song preview clips so you can identify music. These previews are streamed from Apple's iTunes/Apple Music preview service. When a preview is requested, a standard network request is made to Apple's servers; we do not use this to build a profile of your listening habits, and we do not sell or share your in‑game listening activity with advertisers or data brokers.

4. Game Center

If you use leaderboards or achievements, the App integrates with Apple Game Center. Your use of Game Center is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We receive only the Game Center player information needed to display rankings and achievements.

5. How we use information

We do not use your data for third‑party advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.

6. Service providers we share data with

We share limited data with the following service providers strictly so they can perform services for us. Each is contractually and legally required to protect your data and to provide protection at least equal to that described in this policy.

We do not share your data with advertising networks or data brokers, and we do not allow our service providers to use your data to track you across other apps or websites.

7. Artificial intelligence and future features

We are developing a future feature ("Music Intelligence") that may use machine‑learning techniques to provide personalized music insights and recommendations. We are committed to handling any such processing transparently:

We will update this Privacy Policy before any AI‑related feature collects or uses your data in a new way.
We will not share your personal data with any third‑party AI provider without first obtaining your explicit permission, in line with Apple's App Review Guidelines.
Where feasible, processing will be performed on aggregated or de‑identified data, or on your device.

8. Children's privacy

Block Party is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Data retention and your choices

We keep account and gameplay data for as long as your account is active. You can:

Request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at the address below. We will delete your data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain limited records to comply with legal obligations or prevent fraud.
Revoke consent by deleting the App and asking us to delete your account.
Depending on where you live (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR or the California CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, port, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. We honor these requests regardless of where you live.

We do not sell or share your personal information, as the terms "sell" and "share" are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), and we have not done so in the preceding 12 months. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would require offering a right to limit. Any aggregated or de‑identified statistics we may use to understand and improve the game, or in future analytics products, are not linked to you and are not personal information under these laws.

10. Data security

We use industry‑standard safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and access controls on our Firebase database, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and limit access to it.

11. International transfers

Our service providers (including Google and Sentry) may process and store data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
